The view to south from Kaunispää.
The cross-country ski run I would be using down from Kaunispää towards Palopää.
Joikun Kota, a cafe along the route.
A view from Palopää to Kaunispää.
I guess, the farmost of these fjelds are in Russia.
I met some reindeers just before the Lutto hut
The Lutto hut is one of the smallest ones around Saariselkä
Here I am admiring Kulmakuru - seen in the next picture.
Kulmakuru, the right wing of it.
The left wing of Kulmakuru. The both wings form a 90 degree angle.
On the way to Pikku-harrinoja.
I guess the reindeers had here salt on the pole to add to their diet.
After three days skiing I was so tired, that I didn't go skiing at all. Instead I walked on top of Kaunispää. Along there was a sleightrack.
One can see Kiilopää between the trees
This is how one sees Saariselkä from Kaunispää
This is where I enjoyed my lunch on sunday. I did look for Taajoslaavu, a fireplace, but the the track of a skidoo was not the right one.
Rumakuru
On Monday I headed to Rautulampi. Here's the Luulampi hut where I had a hot drink.
There it is, the Rautulampi (a small lake) and the hut on the other shore.
Rautulampi seen from above, on the way to Kiilopää over Niilanpää
From the same place as the picture before, Rautuvankka. One sees the track on the bottom of the valley, where I just came from.
Picture taken to southeast from the top of Raututunturi
Frost on the posts. The crystals were really big.
Vaarallinen lasku = Dangerous descent, but can be understood also as a "bill with a fjeld" - here it would somehow be proper...
The entrance to the Urho Kekkonen National park at Tunturikeskus Kiilopää; a center for Cross country skiers.
There was a nice "gallery" of ice sculptures at Tunturikeskus Kiilopää.
A view to Ahopää
There, I have achieved the start/end of the track in Saariselkä. And now hurriedly to my appartement to get the sauna hot!
