On top of Seekarlspitze, with skis

The begin

I do like hiking in the Alps, but coming down is hard for the knies.  I love cross country skiing, but the scenery is not so great along the routes.  Alpin skiing would be great, weren't the slopes always full, and shouldn't one wait for the ski lift.  And it isn't that sporty, although the legs do get pretty tired.

Take ski touring.  You get up with your own power, the scenery is great, usually the route is not that crowded, and you ski down, often in untouched snow.  Sounds interesting, at least to me!

No wonder I wanted to try this art of enjoying the Alps.  As Renate and Michael asked me, if I did Skitouring, my answer was: "No, not yet, but please please take me with you!"  So they did.  Just one problem: I had to arrange me the skis and boots.  But I succeeded, about thirteen hours before we started to Achensee at Saturdaymorning.

The weather was great.  In Munich it was foggy and cold, minus 9 Celcius.  Till we had driven to Maurach, where we parked, it was sunny and only a couple degrees below zero.  First we used the Rofanbahn to win a few hundred elevationmeters, then it was time start my first ski tour.  The rest you can see in the photo album.
